People working in social and health care settings are often involved in moving, lifting, or otherwise manually handling – whether it is the people in their care or heavy items like equipment or laundry.
When done wrong, moving and handling can cause an array of problems, including back pain and musculoskeletal disorders, moving and handling accidents, and discomfort or a lack of dignity for the person being moved.
With this in mind, our moving and handling training has been designed to educate participants regarding the risks and correct procedures for moving and handling without causing injury to either themselves or the person they are supporting.
The training has been developed on the basis of guidelines by CQC, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and other relevant policies and regulations.
The programme includes:
An introduction into moving and handling
Methods for safe moving and handling
Relevant law and legislation
The vertebral column
The three bio-mechanic principles
Potential work place hazards
Falling clients and stairs
Recording and reporting information
Practical application of moving and handling techniques
NB: If space allows, the Moving & Handling Induction course can also be booked as a refresher.
At the end of the day, successful participants will receive a Kemble Training Attendance Certificate that lists all the completed elements.
