The City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Dementia Awareness is an introduction into dementia care practice. It is suitable for people who are or will be working in a dementia care setting, and who have little to no experience with dementia care.
The course consists of a full day and will focus on several areas of dementia care, including:
Awareness of dementia and the different types of dementia
A person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
The factors that can influence to an individual’s experience of dementia
In order to obtain the qualification, you will need to complete a workbook with assignments.
Costs and funding
This course is free for all eligible learners, because we have received funding that enables us to offer certain courses at no cost. Moreover, employers may be able to claim associated costs up to £120 for this course from the Workforce Development Fund (WDF) on successful completion of the Certificate.
In order to be eligible for free participation,
the employer must be an ‘SME’ (Small or Medium sized Enterprise) with less than 250 employees and turnover of less than € 50 million (EURO).
the learner can only attend one free course within our funding contract, although ‘progressions’ to a higher-level course may be possible.
In our experience the majority of learners qualify for free participation, so please contact us to check whether your organisation or learner is eligible – it would be a shame to miss out.
Learners who are not eligible can still participate in the course for free; however, if you want to obtain the Certificate you will have to pay a registration and assessment fee (£90 + VAT).
