Dementia

Our Dementia Training can be facilitated as a course just for your organisation at our training centre or 'onsite' at your location. The course comes in a number of variations depending on your requirements. 

Dementia Awareness 

Aimed at new and existing care staff to give them an understanding of what Dementia is and to support them with further knowledge so they can support end users. This course lasts for approximately 3-4 hours and is only run as a group for organisations. Training can be facilitated at our training centre or 'onsite' at your location.

  • Understand what dementia is

  • Know the most common types of dementia and their causes

  • Understand approaches that enable an individual with dementia to experience well being

  • Understand the factors that may influence an individual’s ability to communicate and interact

  • Be able to promote positive interactions through an understanding of life history

  • Explore day to day situations that may arise when supporting individuals with dementia

  • Understand national and local dementia initiatives

Accredited Dementia Awareness Level 2

Aimed at new and existing care staff to give them an understanding of what Dementia is and to support them with further knowledge so they can support end users. This accredited course lasts for one day with a work book completed in the following week in their own time. The work book is then marked, quality assured and then accredited with our awarding body City and Guilds. We run this course twice a month on a Friday or it can be run as a group just for your organisation. Training can be facilitated at our training centre or 'onsite' at your location.

  • Know the most common types of dementia and their causes

  • Understand approaches that enable an individual with dementia to experience well being

  • Understand the factors that may influence an individual’s ability to communicate and interact

  • Be able to promote positive interactions through an understanding of life history

  • Explore day to day situations that may arise when supporting individuals with dementia

  • Understand national and local dementia initiatives

  • Understand factors relating to an individual’s experience of dementia
